Thai Fish Cakes (Leatherjacket) & Vegetarian mix

Leatherjackets (the fish, not the item of clothing) are cheap as chips to buy, and really quite a tasty fish to eat but there are soooo soooooo SOOOOOOOOO many bones in it, so we figured the best way was to extract all the meat off the fish and just chuck out the skin and bones.

What to do with it next?
Fish cakes of course! We are damn well awesome at making fish cakes (of the Thai variety only at this stage) and I think we are only getting better.

Check out this awesomeness.

Ok, let's see... what's on the plate?
steamed rice (of course), a jug of dipping sauce (vinegar, sugar, lime rind and shredded kaffir lime leaves), purple cabbage salad, thai fish cakes (on top), and mixed vegetarian goodies

Alright, so you may (or may not... don't let me put words in your mouth) be wondering "What the hell is vegetarian mix?"

Well, it is close to the Lunar New Year, and as all good asians do, we like to pretend we are doing good by going to temple and eating fake meat just once a year... and dear father, ever the good asian just once a year, will go to temple and bring home lots of these goodies.

Basically lots of gluten, which is a meat substitute, lots of tofu and beancurd products, and lots of vegetables of course.
All I know is, I ain't no good asian girl but I do like my gluten-full buddhist vegetarian food.

OH a photo of the brand spankin' freshly painted table and chairs and placemats!
Ain't it pwettiful?

It does look damn good, doesn't it?
