Another round of housemates dinner outs... This time, Malaysian on Australia Day! Yeah!
Let's start with drinks: Rosewater flavoured tea (with basil seeds), teh c peng x2, and teh tarik in the little mug... |
First dish of the day, nasi lemak with beef rendang. Verdict: coconut rice, not very coconut-y, beef rendang kinda chewy (but good flavours), pickles were average, the spicy sauce was ok, the fried boiled egg was good, but just half? Really?
Overall, it tasted fine but was a little bit disappointing, the beef rendang needs to be cooked for a lot longer. |
Malaysian style curry chicken. This was magnificent. Great flavours, chicken that just about fell apart when you picked it up. Curries never look good in photos though... shame. |
Hainanese chicken. This was ok... the chicken was marginally overcooked... The soy sauce around it was delicious, but shame about the actual sauce that came with it (not pictured). I like hainanese chicken with a very gingery sauce, this came with a chilli sauce with a hint of ginger flavouring... and although it was quite nice, it just wasn't "hainanese" enough for me... |
Roti canai. Hard to go wrong here. Good roti, good curry. |
Assam prawns. Good. |
